WHAT IS ACUPUNCTURE?

Acupuncture is the ancient Chinese art of healing. Has become very popular as in many diseases, which are resistant to conventional forms of therapy, acupuncture has proved remarkably effective.

HOW DOES ACUPUNCTURE WORK?

The Human body has a map of energy channels/meridians with hundreds of energy points located on them. Stimulating certain acupuncture points brings certain effects. For example; pressing or massaging the inner wrist area may help with nausea, and the area between the index finger and thumb is often stimulated for releasing  headaches or facial pain.
Every organ has its channel. Knowing the channels and functions of points based on those channels gives incredible power to fight mental or physical discomfort.

NEEDLING CAN BRING SIX DIFFERENT EFFECTS

  ANALGESIC

Acupuncture’s analgesic effects can be divided into local, spinal and brain effects and involve the enhanced release of analgesic substances e.g. opioids, endorphins and reducing the release of pain-inducing substances such as inflammatory cytokines but also cortisol.

  SEDATION

Some people may fall asleep during treatment. It has been shown that there is a decrease in delta and theta wave activity on the electro – encephalogram during acupuncture treatment.

  HOMEOSTATIC

Meaning: regulatory effect. Adjustment of the internal environment of the body towards a state of normal balance.

Generally, homeostasis is maintained by the balanced activity of the sympathetic and parasympathetic division of the autonomic nervous system and also by the endocrine system. In addition, there are numerous homeostatic mechanisms in the body for regulating the respiration, heart rate, blood pressure, urinary excretion, metabolic rate, sweating, temperature, ionic balance of the blood and more.

  IMMUNE ENHANCEMENT

Body resistance to disease is strengthened. This is due to an increase in leucocytosis, antibodies, gamma globulins and other substances, which increase the resistive powers of the body. That makes acupuncture very useful in combating infections. Combining acupuncture with the use of herbal formulas can significantly support the body during cold and flu season

  ANTI-INFLAMMATORY

Anti-inflammatory affects multiple biological systems: the immune, digestive, respiratory, nervous, locomotory, circulatory, endocrine and genitourinary systems. It is well known that the localized acupuncture-mediated inflammatory effect involves the regulation of multiple populations and functions of immune cells, including macrophages, granulocytes, mast cells and T cells.

  MOTOR RECOVERY

Involves antidromic stimulation of the anterior horn cells and their reactivation through a biofeedback mechanism, operating through the Renshaw and Cajal cells of the spinal cord or they are cranial equivalents.
