WHAT IS ACUPUNCTURE?

Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese healing method, which has become extremely popular in western countries, in last couple of decades. It has become so popular, as in many diseases, which are resistant to conventional forms of therapy, acupuncture has proved remarkably effective.

Many of my patients run out of all other options before coming to me, only to all end up asking themselves the same question: “Why did I not start with acupuncture?”

HOW DOES ACUPUNCTURE WORK?

The Human body has a map of energy channels/meridians with hundreds of energy points located on them. Stimulating certain acupuncture points brings certain effects.

For example; pressing or massaging the inner wrist area may help with nausea, and the area between the index finger and thumb is often stimulated for headaches or facial pain. The use of copper?

Copper is a great conductor so this needle is ideal for electro-acupuncture. Electro-acupuncture is acupuncture in which needles are used to have the ability to carry a mild electric current. The benefits of this allow stinger circulation of the bloodstream, providing pain relief for a long period of time compared to standard acupuncture.

Infra-Red Light?

An acupuncture thermal design lamp (TDP) is used during some treatments. The TDP lamp is a specific electromagnetic lamp which is heated by infrared light and produces therapeutic rays to increase microcirculation. It is a clinical alternative and a substitution for moxibustion. TDP is often called an acupuncture heat lamp because it is commonly used during acupuncture sessions.
The heat strengthens energy and dispels cold and stagnation which might cause pain. TDP lamp is also used in acupuncture to keep patients warm, comfortable, and to assist acupuncture.

Moxibustion?

Moxibustion is a traditional Chinese medicine therapy which consists of burning dried mugwort at particular points on the body. The downside of this method is a smoke.
